Expose yourself to the wide world of fashion - from Couture and Eurostyle to Island Fashions and the whole world in between. Apply various design techniques, styles and sewing techniques to your own fashion design and sewing.
From construction techniques (different seaming, interfacing, folding, etc.) to surface design (applique, embroidery, fabric arts etc. ) to your own multicultural creation! Students will be challenged to create an accessory or garment using at least three techniques new to them from three different global design traditions.
Learn the where, what, who, when and why of international fashion design and creation. In addition to inspecting garments and fabrics we'll watch a series of short video clips with designers, sewers, wearers and manufacturers of fashions from other parts of the planet.
