Learn basic or advanced sewing (two tracks woven together into same curriculum) while exploring the past 100 years of fashion.
January 2-5, 2018: 12:00-5:00
Track the evolution of sleeves and waistlines, coat collars and hem lengths and color choice. Evolve a personal style based on your new fluency in design elements and their changes through the last century. Find out what you like and what looks good on you! Design a garment based on what catches your eye. Students will learn to take their own measurements and draft a torso block pattern that can be used to design for their figure.
We'll access archives of fashion, fashion books, design libraries and more. Possible field trip to local fashion museum holdings.
This class is perfect for the home sewer or Fashion Design students attending other programs during the school term. Get a leg up on your fellow students with this technical and design education creation process. From mood boards to measuring and patterning for your own look, you'll emerge with a whole new skill set and an eye for line and color.
A limited number of scholarships available.
