Alabama Chanin Studio: A-Line Dress

This class teaches all aspects of hand sewn Alabama Studios garment construction.  Fit, layout, cutting, stencilling, applique, embroidered embellishment, seaming and treatment of neckline and armhole openings.

Garments will be finished at home as the process of making hand constructed garments takes time.  The amount of time a garment takes to make depends on the maker’s pace and the amount of applique and embroidery desired for embellishment. Garments do not need to be embellished or can be embellished with paint and permanent markers instead of applique.  No previous experience needed, beginners welcome.

The book of instructions and patterns: Alabama Studios Sewing Patterns, 2015,  gives comprehensive instructions for all aspects of making the garments.

Students may consider taking the first two classes in our series, Alabama Chanin: Handsewing and Alabama Chanin: Applique, but they are not required for taking this class.
