Beginner Project: Cross Back Apron

This apron is perfect for quilting cottons or canvas fabrics.  Additionally the apron could be made from canvas and the pocket from quilting cotton or another lightweight fabric such as lawn or voile.  In this class you'll learn some sewing techniques that are useful in many types of apparel sewing:  how to cut out and properly transfer pattern markings to your fabric, how to apply a bias binding, and how to sew a narrow hem.  The supplies you'll need for the class are:

  • 1 3/4 - 2 1/4 yards 45" fabric for the apron body and straps depending on your size
  • 1/2 yard fabric for the pockets
  • Matching thread
  • Scissors and/or rotary cutter
  • 1 package of matching single fold bias tape (3 yard package)
  • Your sewing machine
  • The pattern will be provided by the instructor
